Work Week

Tuesday 2-28

Very excited to run this morning and I really do like running before work. I feel when I have to be at work after I run I go faster or push myself a bit harder. Today was 8 miles with 10x100m, my plan said to do 8x100m, but what is 2 more? i felt good after a rest day yesterday. I had hot yoga which is really helping my legs out. My overall feeling so far in the program is good, there was only once where I felt exhausted, but I think that was my own doing with little sleep. My weeks have been about 47mpw for the past 3 weeks. this week should end up being around 50, which I am looking forward to.
I am looking to get new shoes also, they came out with the newer model of my shoe so the older model is on sale!!!
i wore today colder weather brooks pants, rei socks, nf sports bra, ice breaker base, and nf long sleeve outer. nf gloves, bula, and berkely hat completed the outfit!

Wind is not so friendly

Sunday 2-26

Just got back from up north and had to rush out the door to get the run in before I had to get mimi. The wind was very strong today 23 mph! But the temp was 42 degrees, surprisingly the wind wasn't that cold just a pain to run against. I was feeling good, anxious to get out of the car and run. Yesterday was a rest day due to Rogers race so I was well rested. I ran almost the same route as the 15 I did last week, but just lengthened it by 2 miles. i ate both gels one at 1:09 the same spot as last week and at about the 2 hour mark.
Wearing the Sporthill tights i was a bit warm, I had the nf sports bra tank on and the nf white long sleeve base. I am wearing a new color for the outer(shocking I know). The bula was a bit overkill as well, but with the wind you never know and I hate my neck cold. I also wore the smartwool hat with the castelli headband on top. I changed that at the last minute before I left. Fuel belt with both bottles filled with water, I only drank one though.

Sooooo Bored

Friday 2-24

Treadmill run today. it wasn't too bad except the fact that I had to stare at the same spot on the floor or i would loose balance and feel like I was gonna fall. I also felt likt i was all over the place. I was going at an alright pace and went faster as I got further along. i finished my workout by doing some arms and some legs along with some more ab workout.

Thirsty Thursday

Thursday 2-23
I forgot to take a picture today, i was in a hurry to get the run over because we were headign to Hayward WI for the American Birkebeiner. It was sunny and mid 20's, great day for a run. I just did my quick 6 mile route that I always do. Tomorrow i will have to run on the treadmill up north, but at least i'm still running! no more side pain which is good, still trying to stretch out my legs. i bought some compression socks and some sleeves and doing weekly yoga, so hopefully that helps!

Off Day

Wednesday 2-22

10 miles today, straight down sprecher 5 and back. I didn't have to work today so I wasn't in a rush, but I still wanted to get out early. Out by 8:30, not too bad. i went out with goal to clear my head and go at a steady pace. I succeeded at both, I zoned out for sure and the miles went by fast. The temp was good about 30 again and sunny. it felt like spring and you wouldn't know it had snowed the day before if you hadn't seen it yourself.
I wore the warmer weather brooks tights, rei socks, ice breaker base, nf long sleeve outer, black bula, knit nf hat. felt good overall this week with my running.

Frosty Tuesday

Tuesday 2-21

yesterday was a rest day, not entirely a rest day but a rest day from running nonetheless. I went to a new yoga place. i have heard good things about the place and have always wanted to try it out, but it is kinda pricey. But...thanks to groupon they had a 10 session deal, so of course I had to get it! The session was a hot yoga class and I needed it. I really liked it and will be going back for sure! i had planned to go to spin class as well Monday night but too many activities with the children.
It was about 30 degrees this morning with some flurries. This was also my only work day this week, so I had to be done with the run by 930. 9 miles with 4 at race pace. I did really well I thought, pretty fast. I felt good and had a bit of side pain at first but it dissipated quickly. i was very tired though as you can see! I wore the colder weather brooks tights, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker base and alo top. bula neck gator, berkeley hat, and castelli band over the hat to keep my ears warm, sometimes the hat rides up.

Bye Bye Black Keys

Sunday 2-19
Today was 15 miles, I had to look for a new route for today's run since I haven't done a run like that around here yet. I just ended up extending a route that I already do. i felt good today, the first mile I thought that i was gonna have the worst run ever because my side started to hurt, but i tried to forget about it and it went away. It was mid 30's and not a cloud in the sky. had my fuel belt and two gels just in case. When i got to about an hour 10, i took a gel. i use Rocktane, and GU. this flavor was Cherry Lime, not my favorite.
I like running my long runs on sundays because not many people are out and i get it all to myself.
Wearing rei socks, warmer brooks tights, nf sports bra, long sleeve tech tee, and alo long sleeve outer. hard mountain gloves, nf knit hat and my sweet fuel belt.
New playlist also, and it was so awesome!

Back in Black

Saturday 2-18
so it was about 30ish and sunny. I thought I was supposed to do 6 miles, but it was only 4. i was ok with that since I am doing 15 tomorrow. There was a 7mph wind at the beginning. the route was on sprecher till the 2 mile mark and turn around. Literally when i turned around my side on the left started to hurt. I was very concerned that i pulled a muscle. It did feel good to be on my route though, man i missed it. It was a little hard to get out the door, a little procrastination on my part. Saturdays are Rogers days to work out first, and then me after. Sundays are my days to go first. So I got in my groove to drink coffee and relax.

I wore rei socks, warmer weather brooks tights, red craft base layer, nf black outer layer. nf gloves, black bula, Berkeley hat, and shades.

Fun Friday

Friday 2-17
Today was a little run with my baby! it was mid 30's and cloudy. It was nice to be home even though the run was around the town. Felt good overall and nice to spend some quality time with my honey.

Tweet Tweet

Thursday 2-16
Today i get to go home, and I can hardly wait to be in the arms of my love. Kiss my baby girl and tell her I love her. My schedule is a little outta whack. I am usually out the door by 8am and done running by 10 so i can be to work. While here I am out the door at 10am(yikes). But it is nice to slow down a little since I never do. Short work day tomorrow as well followed by a one day work week next week. needless to say getting out the door was a challenge this morning. I only 6 miles on my plate, but couldn't seem to psych myself up. My back is very sore from sleeping on my sisters couch so I am sure that had something to do with it.
My run however was good. It was in the high 20's with about a 7mph wind. Still sunny and if there wasn't a bit of snow on the ground you'd think it was full fledged spring. I wore smart wool socks, brooks colder weather tights, white nf sports bra, black craft base, and alo outer layer. nf gloves and bula gator. I was a bit sluggish and the small uphill I had to climb really caught me off guard. All in all it was a good run and I finished in a little less than 6 miles. 25 miles so far for the week.

Don't Stop Believing

Wednesday 2-15

I ran the same route pretty much as yesterday and I needed to do 10. it was so nice to be out there with the lakes so close and so still, covered with ice and snow. It is so beautiful and so calming. I ran at about 10am and man what a difference than running in the evening here, no one was out except the stay at home moms and a couple elderly people. I think I counted 5 other runners. It was really nice. For the first time yesterday i saw the results of my hard work, my body is now starting to reflect it. It is nice to see the evidence. with me not being a patient person, to wait this long to see the results is so hard. i got back to the place and I had .4 to go so i ran up and down the block to get the 10 in!
10 miles in 1:30:19, clearly a slower day than yesterday, but not all days can be fast!

I wore brooks colder weather tights, rei socks, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker base, and alo outer. no gator today but i did wear the hat and the nf gloves.

V-DAY

Tuesday 2-14
yesterday was a rest day, i didn't even do spin class. I was happy to have the day off from work as well. I got to see my honey at work and have lunch with him. Too bad the rest of the day was not as good. i got a phone call from my sister and I had to catch a flight to Minneapolis last night. She needed her big sister to come and make things right for her and hold her hand when no one else could. Our mother still continues to haunt us till this very day with her fucked up values. To make my sister loyal to a fault, me a terrific liar, and my brother an anger machine. She has no idea what she has done to us that still holds us back from happiness in our adult lives. i have gotten help for my issues and is now in the past and my brother just ignores it, but my sister needed the extra help to make a stand. So after tears and laughing and stress i got to run today. I ran a loop around the lakes, I needed it physically and mentally. i was missing Roger like crazy, the emotions of the whole situation was really getting to me and I could help from being overwhelmed with longing. i was on track to run 8 miles with 10x100m, I got back to the apartment and i had run over 9 with the 10x100m. Picture courtesy of Tashi, clearly after my run. wore Sporthill tights, rei socks, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker base, and nf outer. it was mostly sunny and the temp was 30ish. i also had the nf gloves and Berkeley hat. i threw on the neck gator at the last minute and I was glad i did. The wind on one side of the lake was brutal.

Sunday Funday

Sunday 2-12
I was still back in my home area and ran the first part of the route I ran yesterday. The plan was to do 14 miles and I wasn't sure if the route that I had planned out was going to be long enough. So I hit the road running and I felt good about it the wind wasn't that bad and it was sunny and no one was out on the roads. It was really serene and comforting to be back where I'm from. Most of the time I do not release the info about where I am from, but this was a day that I was proud of where I am from and revelled in the fact that I can still come home and run like this.
I had forgotten my fuel belt and my gel for the long run so I had to make due with what my brother had. I had half a granny smith apple left from breakfast, so I chopped it into bite size pieces and found a bag to put it in, in my pocket and figured it would be a food/water source. I got to the top of the hill(which was such a welcome change) i really do like the hills! and I was only at 5.7 miles so I went a bit longer before turning around and heading back. Of course when i turned around the wind was wicked in my face=awesome! i was eating 4 pieces about every 1.5 miles after the 6th mile and worked great. On the downhill i saw my hawk, it was soaring to my left and just riding the wind current, seriously brought a smile to my face. i don't think i have mentioned him here yet, but pretty much every day I see a red tailed hawk, I consider him my guardian. I know it's not the same one I see, but i like to believe it is. made it back all kin one piece and just over 13 miles.
I am sporting nf leggings under my brooks colder weather tights, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker long sleeve base, alo outer, bula neck gator, rei socks, just the nf gloves and Berkeley hat.
As you can tell I am in my brothers house in the spare bedroom, and yes the antlers go all the way around the room. It is pretty impressive.

a little out line

Thursday 2-9
Amelia had forgotten her library books at home today so I knew I was going to do about 4 miles so i decided to drop them off at her school for her on my run. The ladies in the office were surprised that I actually ran them over!
Wearing the new shoes and feeling good, cold weather brooks tights, ice breaker, alo top, vest, bula gator, nf hat. It was a pretty mild morning overall, little wind and sunny out.

oh wind my dear old friend

Saturday 2-11-12

i know it looks like I am about to kill someone here, I felt fine however. I was back in my hometown and I still needed to run. my brother lives right by a cty hwy that leads into the country and was a perfect running route. As you can see i am bundled up. rei socks, new shoes, nf leggings, brooks colder temp tights, black craft base layer, ice breaker long sleeve t, black nf outer, nf vest, bula neck gator, Berkeley hat, and both pairs of gloves. whew that's a long list. it was very sunny and about 11 degrees. The wind was about 10 mph and a headwind on the way back. I had a sports massage yesterday and my muscles were very loose and they felt a little jiggly at first, but then they felt great.
This was a good warm up for tomorrows 14 miler.

TGIF?!

Friday 2-10-12
This morning looked promising enough if you count out the 20 mph winds and the snow showers. I had the day off and I am looking forward to a nice run. The weather however has made me go inside to the treadmill. I am not a fan of the treadmill, but it being later morning i figure it wont be too busy and I can watch crap tv while running. I set the pace to run an 8:15/ mile, turned on my ipod and locked in on the price is right. i wore my new shoes and used the foot pod accessory for the garmin. I never remember what menu it is in to enable it and disable the gps, so i was a bit pissy on my way to the gym! ran well though and surprisingly enough i was not bored!
no picture of this one, sorry guys.

noooo TIME

Wednesday 2-8-12
Today i started out with a little hesitation. We had a rough morning that set things back a bit. i had on my radar to do 10 miles. By the time I got out the door I knew that I didn't have enough time to get all the miles in, so I decided to get in as many as possible with enough time to get to work(8 miles). The wind was pretty much gone and I knew that I needed this run. The wind was back to normal but i was still stressing about time. I was sporting my sporthill tights, rei socks, nf sport bra tank, ice breaker long sleeve t, long sleeve alo shirt, and nf jacket. bula neck gator, berkeley hat, shades and the older shoes. sorry about the shortness on this one. not much to say!

This Wind BLOWS

Tuesday 2-7
Today I ran 8 wind filled miles! The temp was about 35, but felt like 20 due to the 15mph winds. So I geared up ready to brace it. This is what makes me a runner, sore and not motivated to run this morning, sluggish at getting my feet out the door but I still made it. i still faced the wind even though it would have been easier to crawl back into bed and go back to bed. i would never let myself live it down though, i have a promise to myself to do this.  The first 3 miles were alright pulled the balaclava down so i could freely breathe the air. The next mile was down hill but also straight into the wind. Up hill was next and i had a tailwind. The plan was to do 4 at MP, don't think I managed that but with the wind I think the same amount of effort was achieved. The last 3 miles were less than optimal. I encountered a cross wind and really hard to run. i made it back in one piece....whew! Also sported the new shoes today and they felt good. my left knee was a bit tender at first, but got better. The shoes I could tell had not been worn in yet and just needed my finesse added.
For attire today I donned sporthill 3sp tights, REI socks, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker long sleeve base, and nf black long sleeve outer layer. Craft balaclava, smartwool hat, bula gator, and both pairs of gloves.

Mmmmmm Manure

Sunday 2-5
This morning was full of sunshine, until i was ready to head out for a run, then the clouds made their way into the sky to block the suns warmth from reaching me. Good thing the weather was about 30 degrees, and the first half of the run was tailwind, WOOT. On the weekend i find it a bit harder to make my way out the door at a reasonable pace. Saturdays are Rogers morning to workout first and I run in the afternoon, Sundays are my day to run first and he exercise later. Still find myself with a goal of 8 a.m. to be out the door and almost every time it ends up being 8:30 or 9! Today I succeeded at making it out at 8:30ish, with two cups of coffee down and little energy. I wore my fuel belt because even in 30 degrees the water bottle in my hand gets cold, and I needed to bring a gel. I only filled one water bottle and brought my favorite gel, GU roctane in jet blackberry with caffeine!
About mile 7.2 i was at around an hour so i took the gel, gets a little thicker in the colder weather, but I'm in no rush to eat them, so I don't mind. I find also that in the colder weather I drink less water, i do drink it, but not as fast or often. Encountered a head wind on the way back again, I looked at my watch with 1.5 to according to my head math, and I could have a PR for a 13 mile run, I get home and the run was only 12.4!  AAGGGHHH, apparently my 13 mile run is not 13 miles, I will have to find another .5ish to add somewhere, shouldn't be too hard.
Today I wore, white rei socks, colder weather brooks tights, red long sleeve craft base layer and alo for the outer. berkeley hat and nf gloves, and the shades, can't forget those!

12.41 miles in 1:50:32, eh

i bought new shoes yesterday as well, I will be trying them out on tomorrows run!

Spring in February?!

The Sunshine was a welcome treat today! With the temp being about 40 degrees, who wouldn't want to run? Feeling good, using today as a warm up for tomorrows long run of 13. Sporting the warmer brooks tights, rei socks, ice breaker base layer, and the black long sleeve nf for the outer. nf knit hat and hard mtn. gloves.

Ran the regular route on cg road but stopped a bit shy of the 3 mile mark to make the run 5 instead of 6. same as yesterday the headwind was on the way back, maybe the wind is changing for awhile? with the warmer weather I am not minding that much.

5.02 miles in 42:22, felt fast :)

Rest Day = Awesome

yesterday was my rest day, i wasn't going to utilize it, but my body needed a bit of a break. Man did I feel it today, I felt soooo good running, it's these days why us runners remember why we do what we do, because we love it! It makes all the intervals and the hills worth it. The weather was about 32 degrees with a headwind on the way home, which is unusual but not bad.
I wore my pink shoes that I used before the green pair I have now, I have been feeling like it's time for a new pair and I thought I'd have a bit of life left in the pink ones. They did great but are shot now. Warmer Brooks tights, grey REI socks, half zip black craft base layer, and alo long sleeve on top. Berkeley hat, and cotton gloves.

Leap on UP

The First of February: on my radar was to do 10 miles. The weather was still warmer, mid 30's and I ran about 9am, so a bit later than I am accustomed to. My plan was to run my normal 8 mile route and then go to the highway which is 1 more mile, thus ending at 10. I get to the 4 mile mark where i would normally turn around, and that's just what i did. I turned around! I got a 1/2mile on the way back and realized the err of my ways. Shit! but I got back and added about a mile at the end, ending shy of 10 but pretty close.

Sporting, Brooks warmer tights, thinner(but longer) rei socks, full tank nf sports bra, ice breaker long sleeve t, and nf black long sleeve t. I threw on the gator to be safe with the wind, thin cotton gloves(the kinds the kids wear) and the knit nf hat. i was warm for the most part, the way down is always colder than the way back.
