noooo TIME

Wednesday 2-8-12
Today i started out with a little hesitation. We had a rough morning that set things back a bit. i had on my radar to do 10 miles. By the time I got out the door I knew that I didn't have enough time to get all the miles in, so I decided to get in as many as possible with enough time to get to work(8 miles). The wind was pretty much gone and I knew that I needed this run. The wind was back to normal but i was still stressing about time. I was sporting my sporthill tights, rei socks, nf sport bra tank, ice breaker long sleeve t, long sleeve alo shirt, and nf jacket. bula neck gator, berkeley hat, shades and the older shoes. sorry about the shortness on this one. not much to say!

This Wind BLOWS

Tuesday 2-7
Today I ran 8 wind filled miles! The temp was about 35, but felt like 20 due to the 15mph winds. So I geared up ready to brace it. This is what makes me a runner, sore and not motivated to run this morning, sluggish at getting my feet out the door but I still made it. i still faced the wind even though it would have been easier to crawl back into bed and go back to bed. i would never let myself live it down though, i have a promise to myself to do this.  The first 3 miles were alright pulled the balaclava down so i could freely breathe the air. The next mile was down hill but also straight into the wind. Up hill was next and i had a tailwind. The plan was to do 4 at MP, don't think I managed that but with the wind I think the same amount of effort was achieved. The last 3 miles were less than optimal. I encountered a cross wind and really hard to run. i made it back in one piece....whew! Also sported the new shoes today and they felt good. my left knee was a bit tender at first, but got better. The shoes I could tell had not been worn in yet and just needed my finesse added.
For attire today I donned sporthill 3sp tights, REI socks, nf sports bra tank, ice breaker long sleeve base, and nf black long sleeve outer layer. Craft balaclava, smartwool hat, bula gator, and both pairs of gloves.

Mmmmmm Manure

Sunday 2-5
This morning was full of sunshine, until i was ready to head out for a run, then the clouds made their way into the sky to block the suns warmth from reaching me. Good thing the weather was about 30 degrees, and the first half of the run was tailwind, WOOT. On the weekend i find it a bit harder to make my way out the door at a reasonable pace. Saturdays are Rogers morning to workout first and I run in the afternoon, Sundays are my day to run first and he exercise later. Still find myself with a goal of 8 a.m. to be out the door and almost every time it ends up being 8:30 or 9! Today I succeeded at making it out at 8:30ish, with two cups of coffee down and little energy. I wore my fuel belt because even in 30 degrees the water bottle in my hand gets cold, and I needed to bring a gel. I only filled one water bottle and brought my favorite gel, GU roctane in jet blackberry with caffeine!
About mile 7.2 i was at around an hour so i took the gel, gets a little thicker in the colder weather, but I'm in no rush to eat them, so I don't mind. I find also that in the colder weather I drink less water, i do drink it, but not as fast or often. Encountered a head wind on the way back again, I looked at my watch with 1.5 to according to my head math, and I could have a PR for a 13 mile run, I get home and the run was only 12.4!  AAGGGHHH, apparently my 13 mile run is not 13 miles, I will have to find another .5ish to add somewhere, shouldn't be too hard.
Today I wore, white rei socks, colder weather brooks tights, red long sleeve craft base layer and alo for the outer. berkeley hat and nf gloves, and the shades, can't forget those!

i bought new shoes yesterday as well, I will be trying them out on tomorrows run!

Spring in February?!

The Sunshine was a welcome treat today! With the temp being about 40 degrees, who wouldn't want to run? Feeling good, using today as a warm up for tomorrows long run of 13. Sporting the warmer brooks tights, rei socks, ice breaker base layer, and the black long sleeve nf for the outer. nf knit hat and hard mtn. gloves.

Ran the regular route on cg road but stopped a bit shy of the 3 mile mark to make the run 5 instead of 6. same as yesterday the headwind was on the way back, maybe the wind is changing for awhile? with the warmer weather I am not minding that much.

5.02 miles in 42:22, felt fast :)

Rest Day = Awesome

yesterday was my rest day, i wasn't going to utilize it, but my body needed a bit of a break. Man did I feel it today, I felt soooo good running, it's these days why us runners remember why we do what we do, because we love it! It makes all the intervals and the hills worth it. The weather was about 32 degrees with a headwind on the way home, which is unusual but not bad.
I wore my pink shoes that I used before the green pair I have now, I have been feeling like it's time for a new pair and I thought I'd have a bit of life left in the pink ones. They did great but are shot now. Warmer Brooks tights, grey REI socks, half zip black craft base layer, and alo long sleeve on top. Berkeley hat, and cotton gloves.

Leap on UP

The First of February: on my radar was to do 10 miles. The weather was still warmer, mid 30's and I ran about 9am, so a bit later than I am accustomed to. My plan was to run my normal 8 mile route and then go to the highway which is 1 more mile, thus ending at 10. I get to the 4 mile mark where i would normally turn around, and that's just what i did. I turned around! I got a 1/2mile on the way back and realized the err of my ways. Shit! but I got back and added about a mile at the end, ending shy of 10 but pretty close.

Sporting, Brooks warmer tights, thinner(but longer) rei socks, full tank nf sports bra, ice breaker long sleeve t, and nf black long sleeve t. I threw on the gator to be safe with the wind, thin cotton gloves(the kinds the kids wear) and the knit nf hat. i was warm for the most part, the way down is always colder than the way back.

took the opportunity to go slow, letting the body recover.

There's no place like HOME

End of January and Spring feels like it's here already, 50 degrees today! Contemplated wearing shorts and a T for my run, but then i saw that the wind was about 12mph and decided against it.
I wore capris, reg sports bra, long sleeve white nf, nf headband and shades. Today was going to be my rest day, but i couldn't let the nice day slip by. Also being in the car for 4+ hours didn't help either. I knew the run would help with recovery also so I decided on a quick 4 miler on my favorite route. nothing like a warmer day to tune out on a familiar landscape. The wind was brutal on the way down, but i knew that the way back would be a tailwind, so its always worth it!

I forgot to take the picture until was about to get changed, oops.
